Supporting Home Learning

At Linwood School, we recognise that learning continues well beyond the classroom. Every child and young person has their own way of engaging with the world, and we aim to help you make home learning calm, purposeful, and enjoyable.

This section of our website provides practical ideas, helpful resources, and guidance to support your child’s learning at home. Our aim is to strengthen the partnership between school and families, ensuring that each learner can make steady, meaningful progress.

Rapid Reading

Rapid Reading is an online library of books that are designed to be age and stage appropriate.

They can be used anywhere; all you need is access to the internet on a phone, laptop, iPad etc.

If you would like to try this, contact your child’s class teacher who can give you a log on and password – then you’re good to go.

At each stage, there is a mix of fiction and non-fiction.

Each text has a single word or whole book read aloud function.

At the end of every text, there are ‘quizzes’ that check understanding, inference, spelling and grammar.
