Student Voice

Student Voice is an important part of Linwood School. To ensure that every student has the opportunity to be heard, we hold a Student Voice Week each term, focussing on a specific topic.

We value Student Voice because it helps us to improve the experiences, wellbeing and learning opportunities of our students. Following each Student Voice Week, feedback is reviewed by leaders and actions are identified where changes can be made.

Topics that students have previously shared their views on include:

• Safety (including bullying and Health & Safety)
• Educational Visits
• Health
• E-Safety

Students are supported to contribute their voice in line with their individual Regulation and Engagement Pathway so that adaptations can be made to best ensure that an accurate representation of Student Voice is received.

At Linwood School, we believe every student has the right to express their views. We use a range of communication approaches and personalised support to ensure that all students can participate in a way that is meaningful and accessible to them.

Some of the ways in which students share their views include:

• AAC devices
• Microsoft Teams links
• Symbolised questionnaires
• Class votes

Student Voice is also heard through:

• Sharing their views with a trusted adult during any part of the school day
• Contributing to the Annual Review of their EHCP
• Contributing to and attending, where possible, their PEP (if applicable)
