Obtaining a place
To obtain a place at Summerwood Campus the young person will require an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) with a diagnosis of autism/Asperger’s Syndrome. Parents/Carers and young people are very welcome to visit Summerwood Campus and discuss its potential to provide the Post 16 education and opportunities that are being sought. Summerwood Campus may well have been considered as a possible provider in Annual / EHCP Review discussions, but it will be crucial to alert the young person’s local authority and let them know that you would like a place at Summerwood Campus for your son or daughter. The local authority will guide you as to what to do next.
Summerwood Campus has a panel process where all students put forward by local authorities (Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, Dorset and Hampshire) to panel are considered. There are three scheduled panel meetings throughout the academic year. Decisions are made based on availability of place, behaviour and academic level.
