Last week, pupils and students at Springwood Campus participated in the second of our RE-themed weeks, this time learning about the biblical story of Christmas and how Christians celebrate the festive season. In assemblies, they learnt to made a Christingle, using an orange to represent the world, a red ribbon that reminds Christians of how Jesus died, sweets to represent all the good things in the world that Christians believe are gifts from God and a candle to represent Jesus as light of the world. Some classes experienced a sensory story version of the Christmas story and some wrote their own versions – even in the style of a graphic novel! Mercury Class learnt about advent candles and Earth Class made Christmas angels (photos below).
We’re now looking forward to our next RE Week in early February focused on how Buddhists mark Nirvana Day.
