Independent Advice & Guidance (IAG)

As part of continuing education, schools need to provide Independent Advice and Guidance (IAG) to their students to aid them in understanding their options when they leave school.

Adele Miller and Claire Barnett are our designated IAG Support / Employment Support Coordinators.

They are here to support students and parents with education and social destinations post Linwood School.

They are based at Linwood Campus but work across all sites, including Springwood, Summerwood and CHI.

If you wish to discuss your child’s future, please contact:

Future Thoughts Coffee Mornings

Every third Thursday of the month, the IAG Team join up with the Family Support Team to hold Future Thoughts Coffee Mornings. Please visit our Family Support page for more information.

IAG Plans

Across the Linwood Campuses we strive to provide a comprehensive IAG Plan. This creates consistency and aims to provide information to parents and students about future options.

If you would like more information about IAG at Linwood School, please contact Adele Miller (details above).

Accessing careers information at home

Linwood Campuses use Job Explorer Database (JED) and StartProfile to support the Advice and Guidance and Careers Programmes implemented within Linwood.

These programmes are designed to support students as well as families by providing free access to Local Market Information (LMI), job profiles as well as the opportunity to explore job information.

If you would like to discuss either of these programmes, please contact Adele Miller (IAG Lead).

For information on how to access these programmes, please see refer to this PDF:

Work Experience

Work Experience at Linwood School is an important part of the students preparation for adulthood. Currently, Linwood students have the opportunities to participate in internal work experience. Each campus currently organises work experience opportunities (internal and external) with external work experience being based on volunteering opportunities as a class group. If you would like more information about each class’ work experience opportunities please contact the relevant campus.

Are you an employer?

Are you able to help? As a school we like to provide a variety of opportunities for our students, which includes input from employers. If you feel that you would be able to offer a work experience opportunity or would be happy to speak to students about what your company / job is, please contact Adele Miller to discuss.

Volunteering

Some volunteer positions require the individual to be 18 or over – for more information about how to access volunteering opportunities, please contact Adele Miller to discuss.
