Our teachers are Desré and on a Thursday we have Lesley. Our teaching assistants are Helena, Jo, Judith and Nicola.

We enjoy a range of different activities throughout the week. Some of these include: cooking (where we get to choose what we want to cook), swimming at Stokewood swimming pool, PE with Mr Stow and music with Sam Mason. We love going out and about and do this every week. Sometimes we go out on the mini bus and other times we like to walk around the local area. We enjoy listening to music and dancing during our choosing times.

About Us

Welcome to Red Kites! We have 9 pupils in our class, ranging from year 10 to year 12. Our teachers are Mrs Matthews from Mondays to Thursdays and Mrs Winwood on Fridays. Our teaching assistants are Kerry, Will and Rachel. Gemma and Fatima also work with us on some days.

We follow the Equals Moving On Curriculum for the majority of the week; this year’s Globetrotter unit is attached. Some of our activities are taught by subject specialist teachers, including swimming at Stokewood swimming pool and PE with Mr Stow, and music with Miss Swarbrick.

We love going out and about and take part in community visits every week. Sometimes we go out on the mini bus and other times we like to walk around the local area. We have recently visited Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre. We have been visiting cafes and supermarkets so that we can get used to using money and communicating with other people as well as using self service tills. We have been to the cinema to watch Abominable which we all enjoyed as we all got to sit at the back at the top!

As part of our trips around the local area, we have investigated routes by using maps to get to places. We made our own  map to show how we got from school to Winton.

We love celebrations in Red Kites and finding out about other cultures, including Chinese new year, the festival of colour, Holi, and St Patrick’s Day.

About Us

Welcome to Seagulls. We are a class of 11 children from year 5 and 6. Our class team are Mrs Larcombe and Mr Barnes, who are the teachers, and Sam and Lenin, who are the teaching assistants. We swim on a weekly basis at Stokewood Road pool and also go to Moors Valley and other outside areas on a regular basis to do various team building activities, and obviously have fun, which is very important in our class!

We enjoy going out on lots of different trips during the year, including various farms and local fire stations and anywhere that we can find to support our topic work in class. We also love having visitors coming in to see us.

About Us

Welcome to Swallows class! We are a Year 3 and Year 4 class with 9 pupils. They are aged 7 and 8. We have 1 teacher and 4 teaching assistants. The adults in the class are Lizzie, Lisa, Natasha, Lexi and Gabrieja.

We follow the semi-formal VITA curriculum and learn at a pace that is right for us. We work 1:1 or in small groups. A lot of our learning is through play.

We do Fiddly Fingers to develop our fine motor skills and we do activities such as threading and cutting out. We do Storycise to develop our gross motor movements and develop our core strength. We do Write Dance to develop our skills for writing.

We believe that learning should be fun! We follow the children’s interests and work with them to develop a personalised teaching and learning approach that works best for each individual.

As a school we follow a Total Communication approach, which includes the use of signing and symbols. We learn lots of new signs based on vocabulary from our current topic. We also know signs for everyday things such as greetings, weather, days of the week, colours, and activities.

We have a behaviour board with an earth, rocket and star. Children get moved up to the rocket for doing a good thing e.g. good listening, or a good piece of work. They move to star for doing another good thing e.g. achieving something great. When they are on the star they get a reward!

In Swallows we like to have lots of fun! Each day is different!

Each morning we do sensory circuits and table activities as the children come into class. We then do a Hello session and then usually English or Maths. Next we have play time, snack, another lesson, and then dinner.

In the afternoons we do a short circle time or phonics input, then a topic input based on science, history, geography, IT, or art based on our current topic which is food! The children have choosing time and will choose activities based on our topic and will also complete work 1:1 with adults to do reading, speech and language work or work on their Personalised Learning Plan targets. See our topic plan for more information on what we are learning

On a Friday afternoon we go swimming at Stokewood Swimming Pool.

We go on lots of outings in the community. Our favourite outing last term was to the park to fly the kites which we made.

See our timetable for more details.

About Us

Welcome to Swifts Class! We have 9 pupils, some in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 and are supported by teacher, Katie Hinchliffe and 3 teaching assistants, Liz, Csilla and Fiona.

We love to go out and about in our local community and as a class we earn pasta points which means as a special treat, we get to visit places like Moors Valley and Hengistbury Head.

In the Spring term we go horse riding every Wednesday. We learn how to ride the ponies and if it’s a beautiful day, we go on a trek round Bovington. We swim every Friday afternoon at Stokewood with Mr Stow, Mr Tiller, Sherry and Jeanette.

On a Tuesday morning we enjoy PE with Mr Stow and are taught for Art and Music by Gemma Blake in the afternoon. As a class every Thursday morning we also join sensory circuits with the schools Occupational Therapists. We all enjoy sensory circuits because it helps develop our core stability as well as gross motor skills and we have fun with our friends.
